A Taste of Cooper-Young

The first annual Taste of Cooper Young will be on Thursday, July 26, 2007. The event will be similar to a progressive dinner, in which guests will be able to sample food from a variety of Cooper-Young-based restaurants. Participating restaurants include Tsunami, The Beauty Shop, Do Sushi & Lounge, Cafe Ole, Young Avenue Deli, Celtic Crossing and the brand new Sweet Desserterie. The evening will start with a pre-dinner cocktail at Burke’s Bookstore and proceed through the participating restaurants. Tickets are $50 and are available on the MLC website (www.memphisliteracycouncil.org) or via phone at 327-6000 Ext 1006.

At each restaurant, guests will receive a sampling of that restaurant's food. After completing the circuit of restaurants, guests will return to the Memphis Literacy Council for a band, wine and a Cooper-Young themed silent auction. They will also be voting for their favorite dish to be crowned the People’s Choice award. All proceeds for the evening will go to the Memphis Literacy Council to help adults and families improve their reading so they can be healthy, productive, self-sufficient members of society.
