So, as per usual, I am extremely behind on blogging the Cat Power show I saw last month in Memphis. When I arrived at the invite-only performance, I ran into Doug Easley who immediately asked, "Aren't you tired of this show yet?"
Well, actually...
It was the fourth time I'd seen Cat Power play in less than two months - and although Chan has been impressive and hasn't had a significant breakdown yet (although at the ACL taping I did duck out after she started a solo sing over for the fourth time) - I actually keep coming back for the Memphis Rhythm Band. Their appeal was quite evident as when the band left the stage and Chan attempted a few solo songs, the people recording the show actually came on stage and asked that everybody quiet down.
Anyway - it was a great show and as it was explained to me, it was recorded for MTV's Urge and will be the pilot program for a new concert series that is internet only. The special catch of the performance is that they used about 10 different cameras and while viewing the show, you will actually be able to choose what angle you would like to watch from. If you choose the camera behind the stage you will get a perfect view of me drunkenly dancing on the front row. I didn't notice the camera until halfway though the show, and by that time I didn't care.
