A Taste of the Delta on Beale
Last Monday night I was invited down to the new E.P. Delta Kitchen & Bar on Beale Street to try out the cuisine. I'm friends with several of the people involved in this new endeavor in the former Elvis Presley's Restaurant building located at 126 Beale street, just a short walk from The Orpheum. I always thought it was such a beautiful space and such a waste that it stood empty for so long.
Anyway, tonight at 7PM the chef, Michael Patrick, will be previewing items from the menu (that means free eats, ya'll). There will also be a cash bar, so if you are free tonight, I'd say this is the place to be...
Here are some silly pictures from my dinner with Drue Drizzle - I am not going to attempt a food review, I'll just say the food was delicious, the drinks were strong, and the dessert was heaven...

Lagniappe of the Day - According to the menu this is a little bonus that a friendly shopkeeper might add to a purchase. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

The Upstairs Bar - the bartender was checking his Myspace when we sat down - I kid you not!

Soup of the Day - Chef Michael's daily creation: Seafood Bisque. Yummy!

My lovely server, Helen! Ask for her by name....

Two are better than one...

Lobster Etouffe - Saffron scented rice and Creole tomato sauce
with shrimp and crawfish tails and of course lobster tail. Um, hell yeah I got the lobster...

And a vodka tonic or two....

Fried Peanut Butter Cheesecake - No, I'm not kidding and it was DAMN good.
And a little looksy around:

Special thanks to Chef Michael, Helen and Kurt for serving me the best damn meal I've had this year! See you tonight!
